However, this doesn’t mean that you have to give yourself a hard time with regards to the selection process. To help you easily narrow down your existing choices, here are three simple steps that you have to keep in mind.

For a formal, sophisticated and lavish look, the wooden floors are the best option to consider. Now decking being a very popular product, It can work out expensive on tip to save you some money why not try Scaffold Boards or planks? These are hard wearing and can create a nice deck once painted in a dark stain you would not know the difference!! Bath Screens – Installation Tips.

Installing a bath screen can be tricky, especially if you have gone for something fancy that slides or swings to let you in and out. Now you have it home, you have a big decision to make – do  you install it yourself, or get the experts to do it? It largely comes down to you and how confident a DIYer you are, installing a bath screen would not be a difficult task for the intermediate/advanced level, if you are a beginner it might be wise to seek expert guidance.

Once you’ve sorted that out, it’s time to plan out exactly what you’re going to do. Provided you have measured the screen and made sure it’s the right size for you bath, you need to make sure the unit has been provided with all the necessary fixings and components to do the job – trust me, there is nothing worse than having the bath screen half installed and realising there’s a wall bolt missing!

Happy with the measurements and the contents? Great! Time to call in the reinforcements – bath screens aren’t particularly heavy, but they are awkward and they will need holding pretty steady as you fix them in place.

1) You must check the bath is level and that when you stand/sit in it, there is no bowing whatsoever. Also, bath screens cannot be fitted to baths with lipped front or side edges as the surface curves and won’t allow the screen to sit flush against the surface.
2) As you will need to drill, you must make sure there are no electrical wires or pipes behind the drilling areas.

3) Double check you have the correct wall fixings – the normal fixings are for standard masonry walls. If you are fixing it to partition walls or any other special surface, use the appropriate fixings.

4) When attaching the screen and adjusting the tightness, make sure you are delicate when getting close the right setting. If the screen is too tight or even too loose, the screen may leak.

5) Once in place, the screen must not be used for at least 48 hours whilst the fixings bed in. For cleaning, soapy water will suffice as cleaning products may alter the fixings. You must also never apply any added pressure to the screen – remember that its glass and that the fixing is really quite delicate.

A List of the Basic Supplies and Equipment Needed for Moving

To save time, money and energy when moving into a new home, it would be best to plan and prepare months before the actual day of the move. It would be good to know all the basic supplies and equipment you need so that you can purchase or rent them in time for the packing and moving. Here are some of the supplies and equipment which are often used for moving.

Packing and Storage Containers

These would be one of the most essential packing supplies that you would need for a move. They can be kits for moving home, cardboard boxes of all sizes, and plastic tubs and storage containers where you can pack all of your belongings in. A good way to assess how much boxes and storage containers you would be needing would be to list down all of the items that you need to move and getting an idea of the different types of containers that are available for purchase in the market.

Package Identification Supplies

These would be the supplies which would help you in labeling your boxes and containers, making the process of packing, loading and unpacking less stress-free. You can get colored pricing dots, Post-It notes, colored tape and permanent markers which would all be helpful in labeling your containers. You can also make a master list of all of your boxes and containers which include details about the contents of each so you would be able to easily locate specific items later on.

Moving Equipment

Aside from the boxes and labeling supplies, you would also need moving equipment that would help you move larger, bulkier and heavier items easier to move into the moving truck or van from your home. Some moving equipment that could especially be helpful would be moving dollies and hand trucks. A lot of moving companies have these available for rent so make sure to call up several to get rental cost estimates.

One Of The Smartest Home Improvements I’ve Done

When you think of redecorating or renovating your home, it seems like so many people forget about windows.  At least many first time home owners seem to think this way.  After you’ve owned your home for a while, and have been through some of the ins and outs of renovations, you start to get a better sense for what is important to maintaining and improving the value of your home.  I know for me, that we went for some of the really obvious stuff when first upgrading our new home.  There was plenty of painting, wallpapering,  and replacing of carpets.  Appliance are another item that makes a lot of sense to replace, since you use them pretty much every day.  It even took us a while to get to those, since we were on a budget and the ones we had worked pretty good at the time.  Even though they were brown (yes brown), we got kinda used to them.

But, replacement windows in Connecticut will give you a pretty good idea of why new windows are one of the nicest additions to any home.  Especially one that’s a few years old.  Windows are so much better designed these days for energy saving and ease of cleaning.  You may scoff when I say cleaning windows, but trust me, I can relate from personal experience.  The new windows in our home are basically a one person (read the wife) job.  But, the older windows are a real pain.  They’re basically those two pane sliders.  To really clean them you need to pull them out of their slots and place them somewhere close by for cleaning.  My wife just doesn’t have the strength to remove and replace them from their slots.  The new ones however simply tilt and slide easily in position for easy cleaning of all surfaces.  Definitely worth the effort to replace them I’d say.
