To save time, money and energy when moving into a new home, it would be best to plan and prepare months before the actual day of the move. It would be good to know all the basic supplies and equipment you need so that you can purchase or rent them in time for the packing and moving. Here are some of the supplies and equipment which are often used for moving.

Packing and Storage Containers

These would be one of the most essential packing supplies that you would need for a move. They can be kits for moving home, cardboard boxes of all sizes, and plastic tubs and storage containers where you can pack all of your belongings in. A good way to assess how much boxes and storage containers you would be needing would be to list down all of the items that you need to move and getting an idea of the different types of containers that are available for purchase in the market.

Package Identification Supplies

These would be the supplies which would help you in labeling your boxes and containers, making the process of packing, loading and unpacking less stress-free. You can get colored pricing dots, Post-It notes, colored tape and permanent markers which would all be helpful in labeling your containers. You can also make a master list of all of your boxes and containers which include details about the contents of each so you would be able to easily locate specific items later on.

Moving Equipment

Aside from the boxes and labeling supplies, you would also need moving equipment that would help you move larger, bulkier and heavier items easier to move into the moving truck or van from your home. Some moving equipment that could especially be helpful would be moving dollies and hand trucks. A lot of moving companies have these available for rent so make sure to call up several to get rental cost estimates.
