Design Notes for Pink Window Curtains

Sometimes an interior designer’s heart sinks when they get a request from a client, yet there is usually a way to incorporate most requests in a stylish way. If a client asks for pink window curtains, the interior designer will be quite happy if they are for a room for a young girl or baby, but not so happy if they are to be used in a contemporary lounge. Yet, even in those circumstances, there is a way to use any color window curtains given the right decoration and choices in other items.

If the client has their heart set on pale sugary pink for a contemporary room, then the designers job is made so much harder as hot pink is not so difficult to incorporate. For example, if you have a room decorated in black, white and gray, then hot pink would make a great accent color and bright pink curtains would be just right.

If pale pink is to be used in the same room, then the designer would need to find a patterned curtain which includes several colors including pale pink in a large geometric modern print. These are quite unusual so it may take some tracking down.

The other way pale or hot pink might be used in a curtain is as a wide band decorating a plain black or gray curtain. This wide band could be a decoration a foot or so from the bottom of the curtain or it could form an edging around the curtain.

Lately, curtain manufacturers have recognized the need to include pink in some modern curtains, and they have made the work of the designer slightly easier. They have introduced bright modern florals, multi-stripe designs with many thins stripes of color and modern plaids including pinks and other bright colors. Also, there have been a few new designs in pink and brown. If the client likes a particular curtain design containing their favorite pink, then the color scheme of the room can be based on that.
