How to Get Discount Carpet Remnants

Turkish_carpetOne of the things that surprised me when I bought my first home in 1990, was the dreadful carpeting throughout the house.  OK, maybe it didn’t surprise me as to how dreadful it was, but it certainly surprised my wife, and pays much more attention to stuff like that then I do.  There in our dining room, was a wonderful orange shag carpeting circa 1978.  The bedrooms weren’t all that much better with a chocolate brown shag from around the same era.  Well, it looked like it was time to trade in that second car and invest in some new carpeting.  Which is exactly what we did.  One 1987 Chevy Chevette equals to carpeting for the dining room, front room, and upstairs hallway.  If your looking for other carpet deals, read on.

If you are looking for new flooring for your home you may be very concerned by carpeting prices especially once you add up the cost of installation and padding to the price of the carpet. You could look for cheap carpet and they are certainly to be found but you will probably be disappointed by the quality and if you do buy a cheap carpet you will often find that it feels hard underfoot and starts to show signs of wear very quickly.

One way to be able to afford quality carpet without breaking the bank is by looking for discount carpet remnants offered by stores. You see, carpet stores have a problem when a customer buys a carpet in that they have to order in a roll and if another customer has not requested a carpet of the same type or there is not a substantial amount of carpet left on the roll to sell to a future customer they are left with lots of pieces of carpet in their stock room. The stores resolve this by encouraging customers to buy the ends of rolls by offering them at a discount.

To find these carpet remnants be sure to look around the carpet stores regularly until you find exactly what you want as the stock changes constantly and a roll of carpet that is there one day will be sold by the next. Also if you do not find the remnant you are looking for there may very well be the exact carpet you need on your next visit. You need to be able to act quickly and buy right away once you see a suitable carpet remnant so be sure to go shopping with your room measurements and samples of any colors you need to match up to your carpet. It is no good buying what you think is the perfect size or color of remnant and then finding that it is a poor fit or match when you get it home.
