How To Lock UPVC French Doors

The Upvc French door is very popular and used on many modern homes because they are inexpensive and look good. A problem with this type of door is that it can be difficult to find an efficient locking system for it because it does not work the same as most doors do. To properly lock them you will need a UPVC door lock, this kind of lock is very rigid and will go well with the door. You could also purchase locks for your Upvc window for the added security of your home. Buying this kind of lock is fairly cheap and you can find them at a number of home stores. You will probably be able to fit it on yourself, if you have never done this before you can follow the instructions that are usually included with the lock.

The UPVC lock should be large enough to properly lock the doors but not too big or it may look gaudy. Start by removing any old locks from the door, depending on the type of lock you get, you may be required to drill a hole into the door, but with UPVC you may be able to fix the screws straight in so the main tool that you will need is a screwdriver.

If this is your first time installing a lock you should work slowly and make sure that you are completing each step properly. The security of your house is at stake so it is very important that you do the job right. Each screw should be tightly secured into the proper holes, don’t make it too tight though or you may strip the screw which will make it very difficult to take back out. Once you have secured the lock on your UPVC French doors, you should check them to make sure they are working properly.
