Finishing off a bathroom with accessories is usually a fun thing to do, as it is a small space and one with lots of specialized items available to help decorate the room. Beyond the necessities, you can also get as creative as you like, although it is good to keep a clean look in the bathroom without too many extras.

Coordinating your bathroom by color is always an easy way to make your selection, then you can choose things you like in those colors which automatically go together. You can often find a good selection of bathroom sets online, if you want to buy a number of things together, and these usually consist of a tumbler, a soap dispenser and a toothbrush holder. You can also coordinate the shower curtain, bath mat and towels too if you like.

Blue is an easy color to work with in the bathroom and very popular so finding blue bathroom accessories is usually quite easy. You can find them in a number of different themes, including nautical, floral, or modern. Blue works great either as an accessory color or as the main shade in a bathroom.

When completing your room, remember to include other things beyond basic bathroom accessories. You can often find fun shower curtain rings that match the theme or style of your bathroom, and a piece of art always is nice in the room. For instance, if you are going with a surfer theme and blue accessories, a picture of a surfboard or surfers in the ocean in tones of blues and greens would be a great focal point, or you could use a vintage looking beach sign replica.

Often these other bathroom items can be found online along with the bathroom sets, or many of the bath stores or big discount stores carry them. Have fun decorating your bathroom, and the results will be something you will be proud of!

If you’re like me, then you absolutely despise housecleaning chores. It’s one thing to enjoy having a neat and tidy, clean abode, but it’s another to have to do the cleaning yourself. When it comes to cleaning the house, the job I detest most is cleaning the bathroom(s).

The bathroom, undoubtedly, is the dirtiest living area in any given household. I say living area, because the garage gets pretty nasty on occasion also, but I don’t eat, sleep or do my ‘business’ there, so I don’t worry about it as much. If keeping the bathroom clean is a major chore, then what could we do to design the ideal layout for that particular room?

We could start by making it the simplest room to clean in the entire house, while enhancing the functionality. To increase the functionality of the bathroom, we simply want to keep the fixtures simple and at least six inches off the floor, and we also want to include the the shower layout on the same surface. The particular term for this type of design layout is a wet room.

Wet rooms have one floor surface with a slight grade, that allows water to run off into a centrally located drain. The floor is tiled for ease of cleanup and the entire room could be sprayed with a hose, if that’s what your preference dictates. The larger the floor tiles, the less grout work is involved, the easier it is to install and the less likely it is to develop leaky cracks. The toilet, sink and other additional fixtures are attached directly to the wall, at least 6 inches off the floor.

The shower itself is the star of the room; Simple is the mantra when it comes to wet rooms and showers, as they share the floor with the rest of the bathroom and have a simple, stall-like separation from the rest of the room. In fact, the room itself should feel like one big shower, with a toilet and sink added for convenience. For additional functionality, consider adding a hand held shower head with enough reach for an extended range of movement around the room.

There are countless designs for this type of bathroom, but if you simply pick out the one that suits your living situation the best, you will be very happy with the comfort and convenience it adds to your overall living condition…
